David F. Stoddard

Attorney at Law

Given how long I’ve been practicing law, my clients are sometimes surprised when they meet me. You see, they expect to find a stuffy legal robot, and instead they get me — a regular guy who happens to know a lot about South Carolina law. As we work together on your case, I’ll always be honest, up front, and clear about where you stand. More than that, I’ll offer unwavering support no matter what you’re going through.

Creative Solutions to a Variety of Legal Issues

From complex divorces to DUI charges, I’m here to help you get through this.

Your situation is unique to you; that simple fact is key to approaching your case the right way. No matter how many cases like yours I’ve handled in the past, I stand by the golden rule: every client deserves a customized, flexible legal plan.

For instance, let’s say you come to me after being arrested for drunk driving. Rather than jumping right in to some cookie-cutter approach, I will instead take the time to hear the whole story. What led up to the arrest? How did the scenario play out from your perspective? Did the arresting officer make a mistake? By getting all the facts, I will then be able to work with you in building a personalized legal plan. And, as your case proceeds, I can use my decades of experience to anticipate complications and readjust that plan as needed.

Before becoming a criminal defense lawyer, I spent eight years as a criminal prosecutor. In that role, I successfully prosecuted people throughout South Carolina accused of violent crimes like rape and murder, drug crimes, white collar crimes, and more. That experience alone gives me extremely useful insight when it comes to defending you against criminal charges.

Because of my extensive experience as both a prosecutor and defense attorney, I have a strong working knowledge of both sides. For you, this means insider knowledge and a more thorough defense overall. I will use my insight and experience to prepare you for what to expect, to walk you through the criminal process, and to fight for you in trial, if that’s what it takes.

Family-related legal issues tend to be some of the most emotionally charged, but they can also reap some of the highest rewards. For those reasons, it’s important that you work with an attorney who is not only knowledgeable, but who also understands and prioritizes your individual and familial needs.

In my practice, I handle a wide range of family law matters, including divorce, property division, alimony, child custody, child support, visitation disputes, paternity determinations, and adoptions. For each case, I look at the situation in their entirety and strive to find the best solution for all parties involved.

When you or a loved one gets hurt in an accident caused by someone else, you have every right to pursue financial compensation from those responsible. Unfortunately, it’s common to run into disputes when the time comes to talk your case over with the insurance company, your employer, or other parties involved. That’s where I come in.

Whether your injury was caused by an auto accident, a slippery floor, an icy parking lot, a defective product, medical malpractice, or a workplace accident, turn to me for legal guidance. I can help you file a personal injury claim, file for workers’ compensation, apply for Social Security Disability, and/or take your case to court if the other side isn’t offering you a fair deal.

Proudly Serving the Greater Greenville County Area

Greenville County is my home. I established my practice in Anderson, I raised a family in the area, and I even had a daughter graduate from Clemson University. I could not be happier to represent clients in this area because, to me, it feels like helping out my neighbors.

Based in Anderson, South Carolina

If you live in Anderson, Northlake, Liberty, Pickens, or anywhere in Greenville County, know that I’m just a short drive away. We can arrange for you to come by the office for a free consultation, or I can come to you if it’s more convenient.

Using local knowledge to benefit your case

When choosing a lawyer, there are certain criteria you should take into consideration — namely, their experience, reviews from past clients, and localized knowledge.

Though a good lawyer is a good lawyer, it’s especially helpful to work with someone who knows the local courts, judges, and legal procedures. That way, you can cut down a great deal of research and prep time, thereby saving yourself precious time, energy, and (when applicable) billable hours. Likewise, my working relationship with other legal professionals in the area can only benefit your case.
